My name is Chris Davis and I've been leading for as long as I can remember. Over 30 years, actually.

I didn't always have "it" and actually struggled through my first leadership role in the Army. I was good at the work, so they promoted me on up the ranks to Sergeant, then Staff Sergeant. But being good at the job and being good at leading people? Those are two completely different things.

I went through Primary Leadership Development Course and Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course not because I was a natural leader, but because I needed the system.

Since then, I've led groups numbering from 2 to 36 people. I've deployed all over the world: the Arctic, Caribbean, Central America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. I've led infantry squads where leadership wasn't optional and mistakes had real consequences.
